Fall 2015 & Spring 2016 class schedule

The Fall 2015 semester is fully in progress and enrollment is now limited to a few select classes.  Please contact the Community Music School-Detroit (313-578-9716) to find out which classes are accepting registrations. 

Spring class registration is now open! 

Spring classes begin in mid-January

The Spring semester has many openings available for
the following classes:

  • Aspiring Musicians Program (9-17 yrs.):
    Flute, Oboe, Low Brass (Trombone), Clarinet, Guitar, Saxophone, Trumpet, Vocal (12-17 yrs.)
  • Spartan Youth Jazz (middle & high school students)
  • Early Childhood (0-7 yrs.)
  • MSU Detroit Community Band (beginning - advanced)
  • MSU Detroit Community Jazz Band - Adults (beginning - intermediate)
  • Gospel Choir (13 yrs. - adults)

There are several ways to register for Spring classes:

  • Online* - registration for spring classes is open!  When registering online full tuition payment is due using your credit or debit card. Click on the green button below, read the Student Agreement, click on the 'Yes I Agree' button, and you will be directed to the class selections page. Be sure to select the Detroit location.

  • Email - download a registration form (see below), complete, scan and send to banksch@msu.edu.  And, call the CMS-D with your payment information (credit or debit card number)

  • Mail - download a registration form (see below), complete and send with payment (check/money order made payable to Michigan State University) to:

  • In person at the CMS-D office in Midtown Detroit

$20 per student is required at the time of registration. Or you can pay the entire tuition amount (see class schedule for tuition amounts).  Monthly payment plans are available. 

Financial assistance* is available based on a student's need -- household income and family size; see Registrar for more information.

PLEASE NOTE: Do NOT send credit card or bank account payment information through email or fax. Please call the CMS-D office directly at (313) 578-9716 to submit credit card/ bank account information.
