Eric ‘RicStar’ Winter Music Therapy Camp

The Eric ‘RicStar' Winter Music Therapy Camp is a day camp that provides opportunities for musical expression, enjoyment, and interaction for all persons with special needs and their siblings.

Sessions include song writing, rock ‘n’ roll combo, silly sing-along, xylophones, percussion, movement, improvisation, and more.

RicStar's Camp 2016 Schedule

The 14th annual camp will be June 13-15 and June 16-18.

Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults:

  • Monday, June 13 - Wednesday, June 15
  • 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Children 5 and Under:

  • Monday, June 13 - Wednesday, June 15
  • Two half day sessions available, children may attend one session
  • Morning session, 9 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
  • Afternoon session, Noon - 2:15 p.m.


  • Thursday, June 16 - Saturday, June 18
  • 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Cost: $195 full-day, $100 half-day. Financial aid is available.

2012 Crystal Award Winner

The program honors individuals, groups, organizations and businesses that have gone above and beyond to enhance the quality of life in East Lansing. RicStar's Camp was the Business Recipient. 2013 Advocate of Music Therapy Award

Dick and Judy Winter, co-founders and co-chairs of the Eric 'RicStar' Winter Music Therapy Camp, were awarded the Advocate of Music Therapy Award at the the American Music Therapy Association Conference in Jacksonville, Fla. in November 2013. The purpose of the award is to honor a person(s) who is not a music therapist, but who has contributed significantly to the field. The Winters were nominated for the award by the Michigan Music Therapists Executive Board. Congratulations, Dick and Judy!
