CADSA Monthly Music Groups

The MSU Community Music School and the Capital Area Down Syndrome Association (CADSA) have partnered to offer monthly music classes to CADSA members.

Together...Let's Jam!
Designed for children, adolescents and adults who love rockin' out! Fast-paced and fun, participants play various drums, percussion instruments, microphones, dances, movement activities and guitars.
Generally meets the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Some of the music activities include:

  • Rock 'N' Roll Combo—playing instruments and singing rock 'n roll songs
  • This Mic's For You—everyone singing together and passing the microphone
  • We've Got Talent—individuals performing in front of the group
  • We've Got the Beat—drumming and playing the percussion instruments
  • Our Own Rhythms—creating interactive rhythms with partners
  • Time to Compose—working individually and as a group in songwriting
  • Let's Just Do It—creating instrumental and vocal improvisations



Crazy Action Songs
Children and adolescents participate in fun, active exercises designed to improve speech, fine/gross motor, memorization and academic skills.
Generally meets the second Wednesday of every month from 6-6:45 p.m.

Some of the music activities include:

  • Show Me the Way That You Bug-a-loo!
  • Dinosaur Stomp, Stomp, Stomp and Chomp, Chomp, Chomp!
  • How to Get From Here to There
  • Many Different Ways to Play the Sticks
  • Bear Hunt, Shark Song, and More!

 

CADSA Monthly Music Groups Flier (PDF)

Classes are for CADSA members and require both pre-registration and pre-payment before each session (summer, fall, spring). Summer session is $30 for each student, Fall is $40/student, and Spring is $50/student. Families with more than 2 students in the same class receive a discount.

Payments and registrations can be made at the CADSA office. 

If you wish to become a member, please visit www.cadsa.org/membership. Annual family membership with a child diagnosed with Down syndrome is $25. Other families can pay $25 for a supporting membership.
