Igor Felipe Do Amaral (Piano)

derek polischuk Igor Filipe do Amaral, a native of Macao, started playing piano at the age of 6. Four years later he entered the Macao St. Pio X Music Academy. Since then, Igor has won numerous prizes and awards including the Macao Bach and Liszt Piano Competition, the Macao Youth Musicians Competition, Student Honors Recital and Concerto/Aria Night competition at Wright State University. He is also the scholarship recipient of the Irene Romanowski Piano Award, the Macao Cultural Bureau Scholarship and the Macao Tertiary Education Postgraduate Scholarship. He also holds the DipABRSM Performer's Diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, England. Igor has performed in People's Republic of China, Canada, Europe, Hong Kong, Macau and the United States of America, including Carnegie Hall, Giles-Lefebvre Concert Hall, The Hugh Lane, Wharton Center and Macao Cultural Center. He has worked with many internationally renowned artists, such as Edmund Battersby, Jonathan Biss, Vladimir Feltsman, Phillip Kawin, Susan Starr and Ralph Votapek.


In addition to performing, Igor have over 10 years of teaching experience. Currently Igor is part of the piano faculty at the Michigan State University Community Music School in East Lansing and teaching assistant at Interlochen Center for the Arts Summer Camp. Igor received his Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and is currently pursuing his Doctoral of Musical Arts in piano performance and Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy at Michigan State University while he is awarded the music scholarship. His main teachers includes Professor and Artist in Resident Panayis Lyras, Dr. Derek Polischuk and Professor Margarita Shevchenko.
