Kawai Chan is an instructor of piano at the Michigan State University Community Music School.
Ms. Chan received her Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College in New York. She then attended the Peabody Conservatory where she received her Master of Music, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at Michigan State University.
In 2003, Ms. Chan was awarded first prize in both the Mary Hayes North and the Empire State Piano competitions in New York.
Ms. Chan has also performed as an accompanying keyboardist with an orchestra and wind ensemble and in many chamber groups.
Currently, Ms. Chan is a teaching assistant with the MSU College of Music in the Music Theory Department. In the past, she has been a member of the piano faculty at the Community Music School Battle Creek and Hastings in Michigan, the Wyoming Seminary Performing Arts Institute in Pennsylvania, and Music Department of the McDonogh School in Maryland.
